How
do I get started?
If you haven't already, your desired username.
Once I send you verification, just change the "e-mail address" line in your account settings like the picture at right. If you have a "Reply to" box in your account settings. you'll want to change that to the same e-mail address. Otherwise, everything else stays the same. You're still using your ISP's e-mail system, but the mail's just taking a different route to get there. Thanks to the speed of the internet, the process is instantaneous.
How does this actually work?
Your "@lcmspastor.com" address works much like a "Shortcut" in MS Windows or an "Alias" on a Mac.
Another way to think of it: when you move, you set up mail forwarding through the post office. When mail is sent to your old address, it's automatically forwarded to your new address. This is just the opposite. You've told everyone to send your mail to a new (@lcmspastor.com) address, and it gets automatically forwarded to your old address, except where snail mail takes extra time, e-mail forwarding is instantaneous.
Do I need to notify my ISP?
No. This doesn't affect them at all. But note the question below regarding AOL users.
Will this work with AOL or web-based e-mail like Yahoo or WebTV?
You can have mail sent to your @lcmspastor.com address, but there's no way to change your return address in web-based e-mail or WebTV. If you're using Yahoo's or Hotmail's optional POP3 mail, it'll work fine, and if you're using a Sega Dreamcast to access the web on your TV, it'll also work great. AOL users, as far as I know, are out of luck unless you're using Claris Emailer on a Mac. If you've paid for this service and can't use it, , and I'll arrange a refund.
